Topic: Some people think that families have the most powerful influence on a child’s development. Other think other factors such as television, friends and music have bigger effects. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

A frequent debated topic is whether families have a considerable impact on the development of a child. While many people advocated this, I would contend that the effects of televisions, friends and music are more significant

On the one hand, there must be some reasons to support the statement above. Firstly, one common reason which is used to prove is that the financial conditions can make a great contribution to physical body of children. This is because young people born in affluent families tend to receive more sufficient nutrition than those coming from poor ones .Secondly, another point which helps people find the argument quite convincing is the personality of children because a child in a home where conflicts between family members usually occur can behave aggressively. For example, the relationship of my friend’s parents is bad, and there are many arguments between them every day, which may be the reason why he usually drops out of school.

On the other hand, if people look at other different angles of the problem, it is obvious that the point above is not really true for some facts as follows. Primarily, the point which is generally acknowledged is that watching television provides children with a source of knowledge. In addition, one argument convincing people not to believe in the statement is music can be positive in learning language of children. They often sing the song they listen, which results in the improvement of pronunciation and a wide range of vocabularies. Furthermore, one more important justification to be against the statement could be that children can acquire social skills like communication that may be valuable in their future by socializing with peers

In conclusion, it seems to me that televisions, friends and music have huge impacts on the children’s development despite undeniable advantages of the effects of family..
