Despite its strategic importance, empirical research linking
satisfaction to repurchase behavior has been lacking,
especially for durable goods. Several yeitts may elapse
between the time customers provide a satisfaction rating and
the time of their next purchase. As such, obtaining behavioral
repurchase data can be extremely expensive. We report
results based on 100,040 automotive customers from whom
satisfaction ratings were obtained and whose subsequent
purchase behavior was recorded
