To Nintendo and the best designers of Pokemon
From a long time Pokemon fan from Vietnam,
As a person who always have a love for games, who have experienced many types of game, I must say for myself, there's no game that has so much love from the Vietnamese gamers' communities like Pokemon.
To be honest, I may not be a good Pokemon trainer, and I'm not always patient enough to collect all Pokemons to fill the Pokedex list, but to me, and many Vietnamese gamers, Pokemon never loses its attractiveness even after 2 decades. Only few games have such honor, like Age of Empires or Counterstrike, but Pokemon is still number one is the hearts of many Vietnamese gamers, especially gamers who were born in the 80s and 90s like me.
The reasons behind such love are many, but also very simple. There is an interesting saying about Pokemon in Vietnam: "It's the names of 3 starting Pokemons: Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle are the things we never forget". Please dont understand me wrong, it's just an example of how much Pokemon means to us. I have seen schoolboys discussing every day about how to catch rare Pokemons and girls collecting accessories that are related to the game and the anime. Even with the presence of new games nowadays, Pokemon is still played a lot in Vietnam: some bought Game Boys and Nintendo consoles to play it (I have seen some people still own the first generation Game Boys just to play the game), some use emulators to play it on computers and other consoles. No games can keep us playing for hours, even days, and Pokemon has no age limit: Anyone can play Pokemon, and Anyone can love Pokemon (even for a Post-grad like me). Pokemon has not only brought us so much fun, but also taught us many values that even schools cannot, like the value of patience, the spirit of adventure, and the will to move on and never give up hope. Not many games have the ability to do so, but I must thank Nintendo and your hard-working designers of creating such a masterpiece.
And now, with the presence of new devices and new platform, Pokemon has evolved to the next level, with the release of Pokemon GO. And the fever it causes in Vietnam is unbelievable, with millions of gamers trying to get their hands on it, and gamers travelling to many places to catch new Pokemon everyday, causing the server to even crash sometimes (our apologies for that). Is there any clearer evidence of how successful Pokemon GO will be in the future? I think not.
I, and many Vietnamese gamers acknowledge that it still takes time for the game to be ready, but we strongly hope that Nintendo will favor our country for the upcoming development of the game, because of the love we have for Pokemon, and the success that Pokemon GO will have when it comes to Vietnam in the future.
