Do You Think Your Life Will Get Better in the Future?

Do you think your life will get better in the future?
I do.
But I used to think life would not get better. I saw what you see—all of the increasing debt, dysfunction and bureaucracy in our government. A low performing government hurts our quality of life. Only 12% of Americans have a great deal of confidence in our government leaders, according to a recent Gallup Poll (http://www.gallup.com/poll/148163/americans-confident-military-least-congress.aspx). And that number has been declining since 1973 when that survey began.
Why am I optimistic that your life will get better?
It is because I have witnessed the solution to society’s #1 problem, the problem of broken government. The solution can be summarized in 6 words—hiring more great leaders into government.
I want to live in a society where our greatest leaders are the people who are running our government. Making great decisions. Achieving great outcomes. This requires amplifying the movement of our best leaders from private sector (where 79% of the leaders in the U.S. are) into stints in government leadership. I did not start this movement, but I gave it a name. Its name is leadocracy.
Leadocracy means “government by society’s greatest leaders.” Working alongside the Governor of my state to hire outstanding leaders from the private sector to serve in his cabinet, and watching the impact they made, opened my eyes to this solution. So I went out and found other private sector leaders who made the leap from the private sector into the public sector to learn their stories.
What I found surprised me. What I found changed my perspective 180 degrees. What I found made me excited to share this solution with you!
When we amplify the flow of great leaders into government, the performance of government improves, and so does the quality of life for us all.
My new book, Leadocracy, shares stories of private sector leaders who made the adventurous leap into government, separates myths vs. reality about what it is really like, and offers simple action steps for government leaders, private sector leaders, and citizens. I hope you discuss this idea, debate it, and help me spread the word. Thank you!
