AlliterationDirections: Each member of the group chooses an item to sell and a place anywhere in the world that both begin with the first letter of their first name. Go around the circle introducing yourself with those three elements (Hi, I‟m Ryan, I sell Rings in Rome). See how imaginative and creative your group can be.Variations: 1. After everyone has introduced themselves, see who can name all the places and/or items to sell.Almost FamousDescription: Participants introduce themselves and name a famous person whose name begins with the same letter. The group then names as many celebrities with that first letter as they can. If the group is stuck for names, or has a unique name, have the participants create names that sound famous using their name.AmnesiaDescription: This game works great for a group that could or should already know several others in the group. Explain to the group that this is a free pass for any name you may have forgotten. Then, group members mingle and introduce themselves to anyone they do not know with, “I‟m sorry I don‟t know your name.” Tell the participants to not be offended, it is easy to forget names in large groups! It is amazing how many people are relieved to finally remember the name of the person they had forgotten.Fellowship of the RingsDescription: Divide the group into two equal smaller groups. Have one group make a circle facing outward. Have the other group form a circle around them facing inward. The facilitator will call out a number, specify if it is for the inner or outer circle, and then tell them which direction to move (inner circle move three people to the left). That circle then moves according to the directions given by the facilitator. Upon arrival, the participants will shake hands and introduce themselves. Repeat this process several times to give the participants ample opportunities to meet each other.Variation: 1.Add any fun fact along the way (i.e. inner circle, three people to the left, and share your favorite movie).Forrest GumpDescription: Tell the participants to think about their life, and ask them to come up with a movie that best describes their life story. Have each participant introduce themselves and tell the group why that particular movie describes their life. This activity opens up the participants to talking about their personal story and allows the group to be fun and creative.Lazy SundayDescription: Have all participants act as if they are in a park on a relaxing afternoon. They then all stroll around the park casually meeting the others inthe group. They can have as long or as short of a conversation as they desire, as long as they meet as many people in the room as possible.
Variation: 1. Have each participant choose a park activity to be acting out while they meet people.
Okie from Muskogee
Description: Ask the participants to introduce themselves and then tell the group what song would best describe their life. Ask each participant to tell the group why that song fits their life so well and why they chose that particular song. For the super excited groups have the participants sing a part of their song to the other participants! Have fun and you will be surprised by the songs they come up with.
Peas and Carrots
Description: This is an easy name game for some, and more difficult for others.
Have each participant say their name and tell the group their favorite food. After stating their name and favorite food, allow the group to ask the participant questions about their choice. Why do you like biscuits and gravy so much? Where did you first try spaghetti and meatballs? Although a simple name game, Peas and Carrots allows a small insight into each participant‟s life, and with proper facilitation, creates a fascinating discussion about family history, travel and past events.
You Can Call Me…
Description: For this name game have the participants think of their favorite nickname. This may be a fun nickname that their Dad called them growing up or the name their friends called them in college. Have each participant share their name and their nickname, and then have them tell the group how they received the nickname. Make sure to tell the group that these nicknames need to be positive and a nickname they actually enjoyed being called. If the
participant does not have a nickname, the group may be able to come up with a
positive nickname for them! This is a fun and creative way to get the group on a more personal level, and an easy way for participants to start talking about themselves.
Variation: 1. Have the group come up with a positive nickname for someone after they introduce themselves.
