Thank you for your application for

Thank you for your application for a visitor visa. We received your application on 21 July 2015.

It is the applicant's responsibility when making applications to show by supplying information, evidence, or submissions that they should be issued with a visa. The fact that all the requirements for lodging the application are met is not, in itself, a reason to approve a visa. Immigration New Zealand was under no obligation to seek any further information from you or seek comment from you in respect of this application prior to making our decision.

Our assessment of your application
We have completed an assessment of your application and have identified the following issues which may have a negative impact on the outcome of your application:

Bona fide requirements
As part of any visa application, each applicant must satisfy us that they have their own employment, social, financial, educational and/or other personal ties to their home country, which would encourage their return at the end of their visit to New Zealand.

We have noted that you are retired, widowed and have 2 children including one daughter residing in New Zealand and another daughter who has recently been granted a visa to study in New Zealand. It appears that the daughter who currently lives with you in Vietnam will soon travel to New Zealand for her study.

We have further noted that no evidence provided shows that you have any employment, social, financial, property, etc. which could be considered as your strong ties in your home country. In addition, you are applying for a 3 year visa with 3 months’ stay each entry.

Your personal circumstance based on the information provided by you does not demonstrate you have substantially strong ties in Vietnam that would encourage you to return at the end of your proposed trip. Based on the current information available, we are not satisfied that you are a bona fide applicant who genuinely intends a temporary stay in New Zealand. At this stage, we are not satisfied that your application meets the bona fide requirements as set out at E.5.1 immigration instructions (attached).

As the issues detailed above may affect the outcome of your application, we are bringing them to your attention out of fairness to you.

We have not made a decision on your application at this stage. This letter gives you the opportunity to make any comments and submit any additional evidence or information in relation to these issues.

You may provide further information by 3/8/2015
Any comments or further information must be provided to this office by 3/8/2015.

All supporting documents must be original or certified copies of originals. Any documents not in English must be translated into English by a recognised and independent translation service.

What happens if you do not send any comments or additional information?
If you do not send any comments or information by the date requested above we will make a decision on your application based on the information you have already given us. We are unlikely to approve your application based on this information.

False or misleading information
Providing false or misleading information or withholding information may make you ineligible for a visa.

What happens if your circumstances change?
You must tell us about any changes to your circumstances that may affect your application for a visa, including but not limited to changes to the following:

* the personal or family circumstances of any person included in the application

* your address or contact details (including postal address, email address, and telephone number)

* your business or employment

* your course of study if you are applying for a student visa.

If you do not tell us about changes to your circumstances, we may decline to grant you a visa or you may become liable for deportation. While you are in New Zealand, you must make sure you hold a valid visa at all times.
