Cochin China" is shown at position (6;9) of an 1858 US flag chart: White rectangular ~2:3 flag with tae-guk spiral and animals.

The taeguk is vertically divided as it spirals inward, the sequence of colors being red-yellow-red-blue-yellow-red. The charges surrounding it are, clockwise from top left:
1.Bust of man wearing yellow tunic and round cap, looking upward
2.Eel(?) highlit yellow, and breathing fire(?)
3.small black-clad running man
4.monster resembling winged dog. Posture indicates he may be supporting taeguk. Also breathing fire(?)
5.Aflame cauldron or brazier, highlit yellow
6.Unidentifiable monster (dragon?), highlit yellow
7.Black filled-in weasel(?) breathing fire(?)
8.Unidentifiable snaky monster (another eel?), may or may not have been highlighted yellow (only traces of pigment)
