Your name is hunter Joe and your mission is to hunt through 10 back to back levels of intense play gathering as many points as possible while trying to travel to the ancient land of Bobo! Fight your way through the jungle, fish for food, cross the valley of tigers, swing across a waterfall and run for your life. Be careful. The ancient warrior Marpoo is after you! 1.1 Audio Tutorial

Included in the setup of Hunter is an mp3 audio tutorial instructing you how to play the game. It is suggested to listen to the audio tutorial prior to trying to play the game. @@2.1 Special Considerations For Windows Vista

If you are not running Windows Vista you can skip reading this section. The new security model in Windows Vista has something called UAC which stands for User Account Control. By default this is enabled and will show a message asking you to confirm or allow execution of a program any time you run a program as administrator. Due to the new security model in Windows Vista, when you run the game program, registration program, joystick configuration utility, or the configuration program, you will be prompted by windows vista asking you if you want to continue with running this program. Depending on whether it's the continue button or the allow button, you will press either alt-c or alt-a. Once you do this, the registration program, game program, joystick configuration program, or configuration program will run and you can use the applications normally. So in short, it is one extra step under vista... whenever you use an executable file, such as the game, joystick utility, configuration utility, or registration program, you have to press alt+c for continue or alt+a for allow.

3 The Main Menu

Note: If you are demoing Hunter, to start the Hunter demo, select start adventure at the main menu then easy difficulty. Also, to skip the Hunter intro and be taken directly to the main menu, press the control key once you hear the intro start playing.

When Hunter starts, the main menu is active. Use your up and down arrow keys to move through the various options. The options are:

* Start adventure - This option starts the game. Unregistered users can play the first 4 out of the 10 levels on easy difficulty. Registered users can play all 10 levels with no restrictions on all three difficulties.

* Random adventure (only available to registered users) - This option mixes up the 10 levels in a random order for you to play back to back in a new sequence.

* Test speaker settings - You should run this option prior to starting the game. It will let you hear what you currently have each speaker set to, meaning left and right, and allow you to adjust the game to use your speakers the way you have them plugged into your computer.

* Learn Game Sounds - select this option to listen to the various sounds for each level. Once you select this option, press up or down arrow to move to the level you want to hear the sounds for and press enter. A menu of sounds for that level opens. Press up or down arrow to select a sound to here. Press enter to here the sound. The sound plays, and the menu of sounds is still available. Press up or down arrow to select another sound or escape to return to the previous menu.

* Final score - After a game ends, if you want to hear your final score again, press enter on this option. It speaks the score you obtained when the last game ended.

* View top 10 scores - Press enter on this option to hear the top ten scores for games you have played. To view the top ten scores posted online, visit the Web site with your screen reader loaded.

* Post score to BSC Games - Only available to registered users. This option lets you post the last score you got when playing the game across the internet to the Hunter top 10 score charts. You cannot post prior scores.

* Quit game - Exits the game.

Note: while at the main menu, you can start each level individually by pressing 1 through 0 on the number row.

4 How to play each level

Level 1: Jungle Hunt

Objective:

You are in a jungle full of animals, and a voodoo doctor is looking for you. To keep the animals from telling him your location, you must shoot them and lull them to sleep. If the voodoo doctor gets you, its lights out! Hold your left or right arrow keys down to move your target around on the screen. To stop your target from moving, release the left or right arrow key. To fine-tune your target, you can quickly tap either arrow key. If an animal is in the center of the screen, press up arrow to target it. When you are on target with an animal, you will hear a looping putter sound, press your control key to blow your dart at it and lull it to sleep. Don't try to be a wild shooter on this level; each animal you miss subtracts points from your score as outlined in the points section in this document. Certain animals require more hits than others based on the difficulty you have selected. On easy difficulty, the elephant requires 3 hits, the lion 2, the panther 2 hits, and all others 1 hit. On normal difficulty, the elephant requires 4 hits, the lion 3, the panther 3, and all others 2 hits. On insane difficulty, the elephant requires 5 hits, the lion 4, the panther 4, and all others 3. If you hear the voodoo doctor on the screen coming at you, you must climb up a tree by pressing your spacebar 3, 5, or 6 times depending on the difficulty level you have selected. Once the doctor is off the screen, press spacebar once to come back out of the tree and begin hunting again. While in the tree, each animal that passes by smacks points off your score. Occasionally a snake dangles down from a tree and you must hit the enter key 3, 5, or 6 times depending on the difficulty level you have selected to pull out your machete and chop its head off.

On the jungle Hunt, you must shoot a specific number of animals before the level ends or you lose the game. On easy, you must shoot 30 animals, normal 35 animals, and insane 40 animals.

Keystrokes:

Hold down left arrow key - move target left
Hold down right arrow key - move target right
up arrow key - target an animal in the center of the screen
Control key - fire dart
Enter key - use machete to chop off the snake's head
Spacebar - climb up/down a tree

Level 2: Swamp Walk

Objective:

The main goal of this level is to make it across the swamp with as few left or right steps as possible. Each step to the right or left subtracts 1 point from your score. You are given a lump sum of points at the start of the level as outlined in the point section in this document. Press and hold down up arrow to walk forward and left and right arrows to walk left or right. You can hold any of the arrow keys down to walk. To stop walking, let go of any of the arrow keys you are holding down.

Take your time walking! Listen carefully for distant geysers erupting since you have to walk around them or between them. When you come up to a geyser or geysers, press and hold down either left or right arrow to walk past or between them. If you fall into deep water, you must press up arrow rapidly to stay afloat and swim across the water or you will drown and lose a life. While walking, if you hear a waterfall, you must press left or right arrow rapidly to run away from it. If you do not press the key quickly enough or you return to walking forward too soon, you lose a life.

Level 3: Fishing level

Objective:

While standing at the river, you hear passing fish in front of you. When they are in the center, press control to cast your net and catch them for points. If you catch a fish, Hunter Joe will laugh then you must hit spacebar to pull the fish into shore. You hit the spacebar once on easy and normal difficulty, and three times on insane difficulty. Be careful, each fish you cast for and miss subtracts points from your score. If you miss a fish, you still must press the space bar to pull your net back to shore. When you hear the crocodile come up at you out of the water, press down arrow several times to step back away from the croc or lose your life! Once the croc goes away, press up arrow several times to get back to the river bank to cast your net some more.

A final note. You must catch a specific number of fish to move to the next level. If you do not catch the number of required fish, the game ends. On easy you must catch 30 fish, on normal you must catch 33 fish, and on insane you must catch 36 fish.

4 How to play each level
