What is Paktor all about? Paktor connects you with people nearby whom you're interested in. It's all anonymous until someone you like, likes you back. As its name suggest, (Hokkien - a Chinese dialect; Going On a date) , Paktor brings people together, no pressure attached. We want to redefine how you meet new people online - and the best part is, that redefinition simply involves moving how you meet new people in the real world, online and on the go. You see someone across the room whom you absolutely have to get to know. If the feeling is mutual, Paktor makes the introduction. Paktor provides the mobility and ease of dating or networking on the go. With a simple swipe on the app, you can indicate your interest towards another party. Yes it's that simple! I see. Why is Paktor unique? Anonymity Paktor works on a double blind concept. Only if 2 parties like each other will we then make the introduction. When you like someone (i.e. either press the green thumbs up or swipe profile photo to right), the person will not know until he/she likes you back. This removes any tension caused by "liking" someone for fear of rejection. Analogy: When you're in a bar, you see an attractive guy/girl and you want to approach him/her but you're afraid of being rejected. Paktor allows you to approach the guy/girl, tell him/her you're interested, without being rejected. You'll never need to worry about rejection anymore. We take your privacy very seriously and do not share anything without your consent. Locality Paktor is a network of interesting people around you. We think that's where all the fun happens. Usability We made Paktor easy and fun to use. Our primary focus is to make finding a date simple and fuss-free. Download, sign-up and you're ready to go in less than 30 seconds. No need to spend hours crafting a profile to encompass who you are as a person! Ok. hmm. Why do I need to sign in using Facebook? Using Facebook to sign in speeds up the whole application process. We create a profile for you, so that you can get started with Paktor in less than 30 seconds. In addition you have to have at least 50 friends on Facebook to be able to sign up - this security feature protects our users against any fake accounts or misappropriation of the app. We take your privacy very seriously. We will never post anything on Facebook. Period. What happens when I swipe left or swipe right? If you like a person you swipe right, if you dislike a person you swipe left. The other party will never know that you have liked or disliked them. It's only when both parties have indicated a like for each other that a private chat session appears. Am I able to contact a person whom I have liked? You are unable to contact a person whom you have liked. We value our users privacy greatly and will only allow them to be contacted if they have indicated a similar interest. What is the red flag at the top right hand corner of each photo? If you deem that the photo is inappropriate, just tap on the red flag. The Paktor team will be notified and will review the content of the photo for inappropriateness. What is the Event/Location field for in the Matching Preference menu? That's actually a new feature that we've just implemented and it's only for specific events that we hold for Paktor users. We're currently working with our partners (various establishments including restaurants, bars etc.) to provide value-added benefits to our users, and it is with these benefits that the code comes in. We will be announcing on our Facebook page (facebook.com/gopaktor) when these benefits are available and how to use the code. How can I change or filter the users I see? In the menu, select "Settings". Here you will see a number of options to refine the types of users you see.Males and/or Females.Hide from friends - your profile will not be shown to any users with whom you are friends on Facebook.Filter by Distance - allows you to see only users within the distance you specify on the slider. The slider is in meters up to 999 meters, at which point the scale changes to kilometers up to the maximum distance of 10,000 kilometers. Countries will show up below the distance slider as they come within the range specified on the distance slider.Filter by Country - allows you to select users from specific countries.Show me people age... - select the age range of users you want to see. How can I translate messages in to different languages? In the menu, select "Settings". Use the toggle button next to "Translate Chats" to turn on this feature. Then when a message from another user comes in written in a language other than the language in which you have selected to user Paktor, Paktor detects the foreign language. You will see a prompt in the chat window, "We detected [foreign language], click to translate to [your own language]". When you click the prompt, Paktor shows another prompt "Messages will now be translated to [your own language], go to Settings to turn off". Incoming messages in that foreign language will then be translated to your own language. What is the History tab for? For each batch of photos that you browse through, any disliked photos will be added to the History list. You can go into the History list after each batch should you wish to change your mind on anyone that you have previously disliked. I have a question that's not listed here. What do I do? Simple - Just go to "Settings>Report an issue" and send us a note. We are always here to help so please do reach out!
