ROS represent a broad category of molecules that indicatethe collection of radicals (hydroxyl ion, superoxide, nitricoxide, peroxyl, etc.) and nonradicals (ozone, single oxygen,lipid peroxides, hydrogen peroxide) and oxygen derivatives[28]. Reactive nitrogen species (nitrous oxide, peroxynitrite,nitroxyl ion, etc.) are free nitrogen radicals and considered asubclass of ROS [29, 30]. Nitric oxide (NO) has been shownto have detrimental effects on normal sperm functionsinhibiting both motility and sperm competence for zonabinding [7].
