Hydrogen chloride escapes with a small amount of
silanes via a condenser during the reaction of chlorosilanes
with the rising alcohol vapor in countercurrent forming the
heavier volatile alkoxysilanes. The alkoxysilanes produced
as a sump product are continually run off. The stoichio-
metric nature of this process means that the silicon-
functional groups such as Si-H and organo-functional
groups such as Si-CH2CH2CI or Si-CHZCHzCN survive
intact.
