This trick relies on the mathematical principles of the number 9. Simply select an audience member, and tell them to think of any 2-digit number (for example, 13). Next, tell them to add those two digits together (1+3=4) and subtract that new number from the original (13-4=9). The number will ALWAYS equal a multiple of nine. For the other half of this trick, you need to have a numbered list of objects, with each multiple of nine having something to do with eachother. For example, you can have numbers 9, 18, 27, 36, etc. all relate to a circle (hula hoop, dinner plate, etc.). See the video below for further details.
