Groundnut can be grown in both rainy (kharif) and postrainy (rabi/summer/spring) seasons in India and other south Asian countries. The optimum air temperature for growth and development ofgroundnut is between 25°C and 30°C. Temperatures above 35°C can be detrimental to groundnut production. Because of cloudy weather, diseases and insect pests, groundnut yield in the rainyseason is lower than in the postrainy season.
