nteralpin 2015 - keen interest in Leica iCON alpine snow management solution19 May 2015 (Heerbrugg, Switzerland, 17 May 2015) – Interalpin is considered the world’s leading international investment platform for the cable car industry and other alpine technologies. Every two years, the exhibition presents the latest trends for this industry at the end of the ski season at the Innsbruck Exhibition Centre, where the 2015 trade fair took place from 15th to 17th April, 2015. Leica Geosystems showcased its iCON alpine solution for efficient ski slope management at the joint stand with its authorised distributor Trigonos GmbH, and Prinoth, the leading manufacturer of snow groomers. Interalpin is the ideal platform to compare different snow management systems, and Leica Geosystems’ efficient solution for sustainable and perfect ski slope preparation was the main focus of their well-attended booth. Lukas Ingold, Support Engineer of the Leica iCON alpine solutions explains, "Snow management systems such as iCON alpine find increasing acceptance, particularly when considering environmental impact. We were able to show the real potential of iCON alpine and that it is a long-term investment that pays off. The system not only save time and costs, but also increases safety, helping to reduce fuel emissions and conservingwater. This way the environmental balance is significantly improved."
"With iCON alpine, drivers always have accurate, real-time information of snow heights in the groomer cab in and can prepare the slopes perfectly," says Sales Engineer Thomas Roos, and adds that “the satellite-based system enables an easy exchange of all snow height data as well as the current preparation status of ski slopes among the drivers."
Lukas Ingold produced a functional model of the system that used the two Swiss engineers to explain the operation of iCON alpine to visitors.
Christoph Kandler, co-managing director of the Schwaz,Austria based Trigonos GmbH, the distributor of Leica iCON alpine in Austria, South Tyrol (Italy) and Germany, says, "The amount of interest shows that this solution will establish itself as a standard in snow management. There was also a huge demand for the iCON gps 60, which ski resort operators can also use to capture the positions of the anchor points, hydrants, safety assets, etc.
The world leading snow groomer manufacturer, Prinoth, announced their partnership with Leica Geosystems during a press conference at their exhibition booth. They were also joined by the Italian star designer, Paolo Pininfarina. Prinoth pre-installs the Leica iCON alpine "Ready Kit" for highly accurate satellite-based snow depth measurements upon request in their South Tyrolean based factory.
