Under the life income option, the insurer agrees to pay the policy proceeds in periodic installments over the payee’s lifetime.

During the lifetime of the insured, the policyowner can choose one of several settlement options. When the policy proceeds become payable, the beneficiary can select a settlement option if the policyowner has not done so or change the option selected by the policyowner unless the policyowner made the settlement mode irrevocable.
