The UEC-LSE series was designed to enhancethose UEC engine’s features further more and lowemissions using the latest technology based on the excellentservice results of the UEC-LSII series.The output of UEC-LSE engines is decided to be at thelevel of 19 bar brake mean effective pressure (BMEP) asthe results of the verification such as high BMEP test inUEC-LSII and test engines in MHI’s laboratory and computeraided engineering (CAE), etc. In addition to theabove the countermeasure against environmental problemhas been researched and developed. Now, all UECengines including UEC-LSE meet the first IMO-NOx regulationby engine fine tuning (fuel injection timing retard,low NOx fuel injection valve, etc). As you know, however,IMO NOx regulation is going to be revised every 5 years,and NOx limit is going to be lower than the present value.For the next step of the regulation mentioned above, wehave already developed the stratified fuel water injectionsystem as shown below. It can reduce NOx up toapprox. 50 % without great increase of FOC. The stratifiedfuel water injection can be applied as one optionalitem for UEC-LSE engines.
