ACDC's project is based on five years of experience working with governments and disabled persons organizations (DPO) to advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities and to ensure the inclusion of persons with disabilities in all aspects of society. This proposal focuses on developing and strengthening capacities of DPO in the two target provinces to improve the advocacy of disability policies at local level, and increase peer services for their members. This approach is based on the international standard is Convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and agenda 'make the rights real' which asserts that persons with disabilities are best placed to know what they need and how it should be provided. Creating a sustainable network of DPOs will help persons with disabilities continue project activities beyond the life of the grant. The second objective is to increase protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, through providing legal aid to persons with disabilities and improve the capacity of the local legal system. The last component is increasing provincial disability accessibility plans, through DPOs's advocacy for the accessibilities of the key public service buildings such as schools, hospitals, training centers or social work centers.
