ConclusionThe concept of ISO 9000 as a QMS applied in the construction industry is still relatively new and has yet to be clearly understood. This appears to be the primary reason why most of the information published so far is focused on the implementation stage. There is limited information on the maintenance stage of a QMS. This paper concentrates on the application of the non-technical approach to maintain a QMS for the construction industry effectively. The purpose of the non- technical approach is to help promote an integ rative environment for the development of change and innovation with the primary objective of quality improvement. A measure of quality improvement may be indicated by how well the QMS is maintained. From the field study, the following findings may be deduced:
