Foods of plant origin may contain up to several grams of flavonoids per kilogram
of fresh weight. It is estimated that daily average consumption of flavonoids may range
from 50 mg to about 1 g per person. Nearly half of the total flavonoid intake is
anthocyanins, catechins and 4-oxoflavonoids (Kuhnau, 1976).
