Condensation—although it does not occur with regularity, condensation in the mold is a possible source of moisture, whichin turn causes brittleness in molded parts. Condensation isespecially prevalent in molds that are operated in humid conditions. Mold cooling water may be the source of condensation. One remedy is to use insulation panels between the mold andthe press, as well as on all of the mold’s outside surfaces.Another is to slightly increase the mold temperature. A smallfan operating near the mold may provide benefit, but it mustnot move air directly at the molding surfaces.
