Condensation—although it does not occur with regularity, condensation in the mold is a possible source of moisture, which
in turn causes brittleness in molded parts. Condensation is
especially prevalent in molds that are operated in humid conditions. Mold cooling water may be the source of condensation.
One remedy is to use insulation panels between the mold and
the press, as well as on all of the mold’s outside surfaces.
Another is to slightly increase the mold temperature. A small
fan operating near the mold may provide benefit, but it must
not move air directly at the molding surfaces.
