The maritime manifestations of jurisdiction have been obvious in the discussion of the diverse bases of jurisdiction, on which each State may found its assumption of jurisdiction. The primary allocation of power under the Law of the Sea Convention is carried out on a combination of these primary rules and creates a very interesting interplay of mutually exclusive, concurrent or parallel and overlapping varieties of jurisdiction, which will be discussed in the next chapter.
