Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visits Arlington National Cemetery, Holocaust memorial
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe visited Arlington National Cemetery and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum on Monday (April 27), the full first day of his week-long trip to the U.S.
Abe laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown at Arlington National Cemetery and the memorial to the legendary "Go For Broke" 442nd Regimental Combat Team of Japanese-Americans who fought in Italy in World War II.
He then visited the Holocaust Memorial Museum where he met with some survivors and lit a candle, at the institution that is devoted to the 6 million Jews who died in World War II at the hands of the Nazis.
Abe's visit includes talks with U.S. President Barack Obama and a formal State Dinner at the White House on Tuesday. He will address a joint meeting of Congress on Wednesday (April 29).
