IELTS Writing Task 2: video games
Here's a question about the 'video games' topic we looked at last week:
Some people regard video games as harmless fun, or even as a useful educational tool. Others, however, believe that videos games are having an adverse effect on the people who play them. In your opinion, do the drawbacks of video games outweigh the benefits?
Personally, I'd answer this question in the same way as I'd answer a 'discuss both views and give your opinion' question. I'd write 4 paragraphs:
1. Introduce the topic, both sides of the argument, and my view.
2. Explain the benefits of video games.
3. Explain the drawbacks.
4. Summarise / repeat my overall opinion.
Students shared some good ideas in the comments area here (especially some of the comments near the bottom). You could also adapt the ideas in my ebookchapter about the positives and negatives of television. I'll share my full essay next week.

Đây là một câu hỏi về chủ đề 'trò chơi' chúng ta nhìn vào tuần trước:
Một số người coi video game vui vẻ như vô hại, hoặc thậm chí như một công cụ giáo dục hữu ích. Những người khác, tuy nhiên, tin rằng video game đang có ảnh hưởng xấu đến những người chơi chúng. Theo ý kiến của mình, làm những hạn chế của các trò chơi video lớn hơn lợi ích?
Cá nhân, tôi sẽ trả lời câu hỏi này trong cùng một cách như tôi muốn trả lời một 'thảo luận cả hai quan điểm và đưa ra ý kiến của mình' câu hỏi. Tôi muốn viết đoạn văn 4:
1. Giới thiệu các chủ đề, cả hai bên của các đối số, và quan điểm của tôi.
2. Giải thích những lợi ích của các trò chơi video.
3. Giải thích những hạn chế.
4. Tóm tắt / lặp lại quan điểm tổng thể của tôi.
Sinh viên chia sẻ một số ý tưởng tốt trong khu vực bình luận ở đây (đặc biệt là một số ý kiến gần bên dưới). Bạn cũng có thể thích ứng với các ý tưởng trong ebookchapter của tôi về những mặt tích cực và tiêu cực của truyền hình. Tôi sẽ chia sẻ bài luận đầy đủ của tôi vào tuần tới.
