Some metals have characteristic colours. Copper, for example, has a
pinkish colour, while gold is yellowish. These colours are caused by interband
electronic transitions that occur in addition to the free carrier
effects that cause the reflection. This point will be explained in Section
7.3.2 of Chapter 7.
