On the attached S1 truss, joints 3 and 6 are designed with 18-ga. plates unnecessarily. In looking at the plating calcs, the joint is designed for 2654 shear through the joint, but there is a point load applied at the joint in the drag load combination equal to 2654 in the opposite direction. So, the "net" shear through the joint should be zero. Note that this applies to all joints, not just the two mentioned, but those two have the most obvious over-plating.The shear between the chord-web interface should be taken as the difference in chord axial forces, less any applied horizontal load component at the joint, from any load combination (drag and wind are the usual suspects).Expected Result:The program needs to use the "net" shear through any joints, which means that any directly applied loads at the joint must also be considered.Backward Compatibility: As this is an error in plate calculating, this should not be versioned. Existing trusses with saved plates will still open with the larger plates, but when rerun (without "hold plates") will get the corrected results.
