Intramuscular injections into the muscles of the upper arm are administered at the highest point of the deltoid muscle (m. deltoideus). To do this, first locate the acromion (point of the shoulder). The injection (or puncturing) site is located three finger widths (approx. 2’’) below the palpated acromion.
