The GMS Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway project is a part of the North-South Expressway. It is passing through Ho Chi Mnh City, Dong Nai Province and Long An Province…
The Ben Luc – Long Thanh expressway is about 57.1km long. This’s connected Ben Luc District, Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province.
+ The Start point: Km0+600, Ben Luc District, Ho Chi Minh City.
+ The End point: Km57+700, Long Thanh District, Dong Nai Province.
Package A3 is from Km16+600 (Ending point Contract Package A2-2) to Km18+713.5 (beginning point Contract Package A4), total length of this package is 2,113.5m. The site is located at Da Phuoc commune, Binh Chanh district and Nhon Duc commune, Nha Be district of Ho Chi Minh City.
Main technical properties of Project
+ Road classification: Expressway, Type A.
+ Design speed: Expressway 120km/h.
+ Lanes: 4 lanes (Ultimate stage: widened to 8 lanes).
+ Width: Road section 25.0m; Bridge section 21.75m.
1. Topography condition
In the Package A3, the Expressway runs area with topographical condition is rather relatively flat, passing through paddy fields, canals and big river (Can Giuoc river)…
2. Geological condition
Geological at area of this Package have some layer as:
- Layer K1: Filling soil: mud – clay with plants.
- Layer K1: Top soil: Silty sand (SM).
- Layer 1a: Elastic silt, greenish grey, blackish grey.
- Layer TK1a: Clayey Sandy with gravel, loose medium dense sometime very dense (SC).
- Layer 1b: Elastic silt (mud), greenish grey, dark, sandwich thin sand layer.
- Layer 1c: Elastic silt – fat clay, greenish grey, dark, very soft.
- Layer 2a: Lean clay - Fat clay, dark and greenish grey, soft to firm, somewhere medium stiff or mixed organic.
- Layer 2b: Lean clay – Lean clay with sandy, dark and greenish grey, medium stiff – stiff, somewhere very stiff – hard.
- Layer TK2b: Clayey sand with silt, yellowish – greenish grey, medium dense – dense, sometimes very dense.
- Layer 2c: Fat clay - elastic silt, greenish grey, yellowish grey stiff – very stiff, sometimes is hard.

3. Scope of works:
The GMS Ben Luc – Long Thanh Expressway Project Package A3 is executed in a 36 months with the main work items:
- Construct new road. Total length of road and bridge is 2,113.5m on the flat area base on the embankment works.
- Construct frontage road system.
- Construct 2 bridges (Ba Lao and Viaduct No.1 bridge).
- Construct drainage pipe culverts.
- After studying carefully Bidding Document and detailed investigation of actual site conditions, it is found that.
- Technical:
- Some un-complex technologies are applied to the package such as: soft soil treatment by, super T girder, bored pile 1.2m and 1.5m, cantilever box girder, cast in place pre-stressed box girder on scaffolding…
- Construction Schedule:
- The execution time is 36 months which requires the Contractor shall be in ready manner, his mobilization labor and equipment will be executed as short as possible. The Contractor has powerful reserved labor force enough to further mobilize as necessary to speed up the progress.
- Construction conditions:
- Construction conditions are relatively favorable.
- The supply of materials for package is favorable, because sand borrow pits are not so much far. The traffic in and out the package area is favorable.
- With advanced technology and technical capacity, fresh and profuse finance, as professional construction company, our Contractor firmly believes that we will excellently fulfill this package in accordance with the required schedule, good quality and high aesthetics.
II. Electric, water and fuel supply plan:
- Power sourse:
- The contractor will contact with Ho Chi Minh City electric to buy power from low-voltage stations which are available nearby the site or the contractor will build new low-voltage station to service for construction site and living.
- Besides, to take initiative in electric source, the contractor will reserve generators in case of public power cut
- Water source for construction works and living:
- The contractor will buy from the water supply factories under the area of Ho Chi Minh City and use drilled well at site and water will be processed freshly.
- Fuel source for construction:
- The contractor will take initiative to buy at petrol stations nearby the construction site or the prestigious suppliers on the market such as Petrolimex. The contractor has fuel reserve method by tank.
III. Major sources of material supply:
- Black sand (fine sand):
- Fine sand is bought at the supply such as Tien river… transported by waterway to the site.
- Stone material:
- Stone material will be taken from the following quarries: Stone for concrete, asphalt concrete, crushed stone: taken from Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Vung Tau province… and transported by waterway to the site.
- Yellow sand (coarse sand):
- Coarse sand for asphalt concrete, cement concrete, sand blanket… taken from Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Vung Tau province… and then transported by water ways to the site.
- Soil for embankment:
- Taken from Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Vung Tau province… transported by waterway to the site.
- Bitumen:
- Dense bitumen with 60/70 pen. Is bought from Ho Chi Minh City
