What are the necessary qualities of a manager?Quality 1: Orientation towards resultsBeing results-oriented is a crucial quality of a good manager, and ensures that they are constantly motivated to reach their objectives. Having a competitive nature and taking pride in their achievements drives the good manager towards obtaining their goals. Being results-oriented also makes the good manager more ambitious; always striving to surpass standards, break records, and be the best.Quality 2: AssertivenessYou might not agree right away, but when you consider that the polar opposite of this quality is “conciliation”, you will probably change your mind! A good manager needs a certain level of assertiveness in order to get the job done.Because they are not afraid of confrontation and do not have a problem expressing their opinion, assertive managers are more capable of influencing others. They are also more comfortable leading a team, and are faster when making decisions; especially unpopular ones. Are there differences between men and women as leaders?phần này nó chỉ là đoạn phỏng vấn nên câu cú ko mang tính chất khẳng định mà chỉ nói như kiểu "theo tôi thấy, tôi nghĩ là v.v..." cậu phải sửa lại đấy.Women consistently score higher than men in the competencies of:• Planning and managing activities - organising, prioritising and planning, in order to meet deadlines and deliver on promises.• Respect and empathy for others - caring for others, effective listening and noticing how others are feeling.• Taking personal responsibility - being open and honest, owning the consequences of your decisions and admitting mistakes.Men consistently score higher in:• Strategic vision - seeing the ‘big picture’ and the long-term impact of decisions, creating a strategic plan and considering the financial implications. • Commercial focus - being ‘hard-nosed’, driving improved business results, striving to manage key financial metrics. • Personal impact - making a strong first impression, expressing views with confidence and being visible across the organisation.1. Social Intuition"Women have a natural tendency to both pay attention to work but also observe the reactions of those around them," she said. "I think men have those traits too, but in general women file away facial expressions and body language a little bit more closely. And instead of just discounting that social intuition I think we use what we see in our relationships and test for possible trouble and create a more bonded technology team."2. EmpathyAs an example, Rockafellar said there may be times when you witness someone who isn't completely on board with your idea."Some women leaders might fear engaging with that person, that it might be a sign of weakness to show empathy or encourage emotional expression, but the reality is if you want to have a healthy culture, you have to listen. And that doesn’t always mean that you have to indicate agreement or let someone throw it on, but you have to have an open door policy that engenders the creative environment that technical businesses need to thrive."3. Building Consensus"I know what I want as the general manager of iStockphoto or the senior VP of eCommerce," said Rockafellar, "But I like to build consensus and focus on results and be open to others’ ideas. I always have a definite opinion about how to get a task done, but I find that by working communally with my teams I can build loyalty and work out a passionate execution and often hear an idea that might not have surfaced if I’d been completely directed in a top-down fashion."The role of women managers in the tech industry has evolved since Rockafellar started working in technology in the early '90s. "At the most at that time there would be a female program manager working with a team of all male developers, and there are more and more women in those technical roles over time, which I think is great," she said.
Why have most great leaders been men?
Men have always been the primary leaders through all history and are natural leaders because they have gad the experience, not saying women aren't good leaders but men are the most dominant when it comes to the task .Leaders are someone who can get the job done and will have a great influence over a majority of people because there haven't been many female leaders in history. Even tho women are capable of being great leaders men will have a greater influence because of past leaders being men they are going to be followed by other men .
Men are seen as more dominant than women, which may be why a lot of people lean toward the appeal of a man being a leader. Also, women respond more emotionally than men would, so under pressure women might not be able to handle a situation. Not to say that some women won't be fantastic at being a leader, and it also seems unfair that they haven't had a whole lot of chances to prove their leadership skills like men have. Society seems like they think it would make them appear more vulnerable if a woman was in charge. People will bash on women more than men. The press want more stories about them, as apposed to men, to make them see more imperfect.
