I want to thank the parishioners of St. William for all you did during our recent bad weather. I especially want to mention two groups that helped many people; the St. Vincent DePaul Society and the Marshall County Homeless Ministries. Of course, on Tuesday January 28 it snowed more than expected. The snow wasn't the big issue. The ice and cold caused most of the problems. Volunteers from Marshall County Homeless Ministries took up the mantel and opened the doors so that those without proper shelter could find a warm place to spend the night. Volunteers from the St Vincent DePaul Society braved the closed roads and headed to both St. William and the Chapel of the Holy Cross to be sure those without adequate food could feed their families.Jesus said, "What you did for the least of my children you did for me (Matt 25)." What these two groups did as Marshall County and most of the State of Alabama suffered through a cold-weather disaster is exactly what Pope Francis has been preaching. This, too, is the message of Jesus: "Love one another as I have loved you." May God bless you for all you do and for all you have done to serve those in need. There are lots of volunteer opportunities here at St. William, too. You'll find information in our bulletin. Come and join us! In Christ,Fr. Tim
