Babe?” Lauren quickly sat up, throwing her phone aside and jogging over to the distraught girl. “What’s wrong? What’s going on?”Camila just shook her head, squeezing her eyes shut and keeping her hands over her ears. Everything felt so overwhelming, as if the walls were closing in on her.“Camz, Camila, look at me,” Lauren squeezed Camila’s shoulders and tried to get the girl to open her eyes. “Is it the music?”Camila nodded furiously, leaning forwards and practically forcing Lauren to wrap her into a hug. The green eyed girl felt her heart breaking at the sight of Camila so panicked, and knew what she had to do.“C'mere,” she whispered, leading Camila over to the bed and sitting her down. She grabbed her phone, plugging in her headphones.Camila allowed Lauren to slip her hands away from her ears, replacing them with her headphones. The smaller girl tilted her head to the side, biting her lip. But she couldn’t help the small smile that spread across her face when Lauren tapped the screen and ‘Sparks’ by Coldplay filled her ears.“I’ll be right back, okay? You’re safe,” Lauren nodded once and quickly slipped out of the room. She jogged downstairs, resisting the urge to cover her own ears. The music was loud. She could only imagine how terrifying the whole situation must be for Camila.Without a second thought, she yanked the cord to the speakers. Suddenly, the room fell quiet, and all eyes were on her.“What the hell?”Lauren bit her lip when someone’s voice broke the silence. Normani and Dinah pushed through the crowd, sending her glares of confusion.“Laur, what are you doing?” Normani half-whispered, nodding towards the crowd of people. Lauren took a deep breath and shook her head.“Party’s over!” she yelled, dropping the cord to the ground and crossing her arms. “Go find somewhere else to celebrate new years.”“What the hell?” Dinah hissed, moving forwards and grabbing the cord from the floor. Lauren shook her head quickly.“Camila can’t handle it,” she said between gritted teeth, looking at Dinah pleadingly. “I’m sorry… but she-,”“You heard her!” Normani yelled, turning around and facing the crowd. “Party’s over.”Grunts and groans of disapproval echoed from the crowd, but luckily people began to gather their things and leave. Lauren sighed in relief, biting her lip and turning back to her roommates.“I’m sorry,” she shook her head. “She just… loud noises and stuff freak her out. I didn’t realize.”“It’s fine,” Dinah said half-heartedly, waving her hand and dismissing Lauren. The green eyed girl could tell she was annoyed.Deciding against pushing an apology, Lauren simply nodded and slipped back upstairs. When Camila saw the older girl enter the room, she carefully took out her headphones and was relieved when she could no longer hear the music blasting from downstairs.“It’s taken care of,” Lauren sighed, sitting down on the end of the bed.Camila set the headphones down and crawled next to Lauren, studying her composure carefully. She looked… annoyed.“I ruined it,” Camila mumbled, shaking her head and crawling back to the other end of the bed. She knew that if Lauren was mad with her, she wouldn’t want to be close to her.“Stupid,” Camila whispered to herself, attempting to tug the blankets over her but huffing in frustration when she couldn’t move them from beneath Lauren.“Hey,” Lauren grabbed the blankets to keep Camila from moving them. “You’re not stupid.”“I was the only one,” Camila let her hands fall to her sides and she slumped down against the headboard. “No one there was scared. Only me.”“No one there is you, Camila,” Lauren sighed, scooting up the bed and leaning against the headboard beside the small girl. She gently pulled Camila into her side, to which the girl quickly snuggled up next to her.“I do not like… being me,” Camila admitted, shaking her head.
