Adriaenssens et al. reviewed andassessed applications of fuzzy logic for decisionsupport in ecosystem management. They expressedthat the application of fuzzy logic seems to be verypromising in domains such as sustainability, environmental assessment and predictive models (Adriaenssens et al., 2004). Prato proposed a fuzzy logicapproach for evaluating ecosystem sustainability, andstated that the fuzzy logic approach is moreappropriate than the conventional crisp sets approachto evaluating the strong sustainability of an ecosystem(Prato, 2005). Shen et al. investigated the status ofcombined heavy metal and organo-chlorine pesticidepollution and evaluated the soil environmental qualityof the Taihu Lake watershed using a fuzzy comprehensive assessment. The evaluation was carried out insix steps such as (1) selecting of assessmentparameters, (2) establishing the membership functions, (3) calculating the membership function matrix,(4) calculating the weights matrix, (5) determinationof the fuzzy algorithm and (6) statistical treatment ofdata. They stated that the fuzzy comprehensiveassessment method provides a scientific basis foranalyzing and evaluating the environmental quality ofsoil (Shen et al., 2005). Altunkaynak et al. detectedand removed the linear trend embedded in thehistorical records of monthly dissolved oxygenamount and then, they modeled dissolved oxygenY.
