In this chapter, we describe these components and highlight the most important and critical aspects. Considerthese aspects carefully when operating or selecting an LC system for robust and consistent results, andmaximum efficiency.Each component or module in a typical LC system has a specific, equally important function during theseparation and detection processes. To explain these functions, we will follow the flow path through thesystem—from the pump through the sampler and column, and to the detector, see Figure 4.
