Airport Welcome Booth & Airport Pick up Services

York International offers an airport welcome service and transportation for York University international students and visiting scholars. International students and scholars who have made a reservation will be met by CampusServus employees with YorkU/York International signs in the airport’s arrivals lounge and transported to their residence on either of York’s campuses, or to another address in the Greater Toronto Area.

Register at www.yorkinternational.ca/orientation and register for one session only. The schedule is as follows:

DATES: August 31, September 1, 2, 3, 4 OR 9, 2015
TIME: 2pm-4pm each day

Remember, the mandatory International Student Orientation Session is designed for you. At the session, you will

Receive essential information about immigration requirements for international students and learn how to maintain legal status in Canada;
Learn about social and cultural transition and ways to adapt to the new Canadian academic environment;
Learn how to enroll in the mandatory University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP);
Have the opportunity to develop lasting friendships with fellow international students and meet staff members, and
Learn key information about life on campus including safety and security at York University

Sign up for the Peer Program

The International Student Peer Program is designed to support incoming international students in their transition to York University, Toronto and Canada. International Peer Supporters are current international students or domestic students with international experience, who have made themselves available – in person and online – to new international students. The Peer Supporters offer cultural guidance and information about student life at York University and day-to-day life in Toronto and Canada.
Through this program, new international students will be able to connect with a Peer Supporter before arriving at York. As well, throughout the academic year International Peer Program participants will be invited to participate in activities that will allow them to build a network of friends.

Pick up your free soccer scarf from York International
York International is offering you a free soccer scarf upon your arrival. Three easy steps to pick it up:
1. Join our Facebook group www.facebook.com/York.International
2. Post a picture of yourself in the Facebook group holding a sign stating your first name, city and country of birth, and the bi-line: “World at #YorkU”
3. Come visit the York International office (Suite 200, York Lanes) and show us your FB photo posting on your cell phone AND your Letter of Acceptance indicating that you are a new admit to York U.

Glendon Students
The Faculty of Glendon will be hosting an international student orientation session catered for Glendon students on Friday, September 4, 2015. We encourage Glendon students to attend both orientations at the Keele and Glendon
