Casting is when the SM officials or representitive walks around a street (only in Korea, like a member from snsd, she was discovered in a subway) and they look for people that LOOK like they'll have potential (good looking people / nice body/ star aura..you know some ppl just have it..).

If you send them a video they might miss it and they want to see how committed you are so you should audition in person. There're weekly auditions in LA and Korea.

1st: Application
2nd: Audition ( Sing or Dance or both )
3rd: Camera test/Rythym test. ( If they think you have looks, not everyone gets this )
It's usually the rythym test. It's when the judges put on a random music and freestyle to. ( Best to have a few dance steps in your head and just let your body move to the beat, no biggie )

Trainee life would be basically training literally everyday. You'll be training in singing, dancing, and acting. Even though acting isn't what you'll be doing, they still train you.
You'll live in a dorm with 6 people, one room-3 people. If you're from America they'll most likely send you to a foreign school (like SNSD Jessica and Tiffany in their trainee days in KENT). You'll attend school and train after school. Yes, you'll still have to do homework. Education is really important. SM entertainment won't check on you if you're doing homework or not. But they want you to do well.
You would live near SM entertainment.

They debut you when you're ready. Because there's 100 trainees in SM (20 official and 80 unofficial), Of course not all those trainees train seriously. Some actually got in because of their appearance and don't really take things seriously. Usually the ones that are determined and stand out debut.
SM also checks if you're actually determined and strong enough to overcome hard obstacles. Trainee's life is very hard but if you really want to debut and live your dream.. Never give up or you'll have "What-if's. Some people trained for 7 years.

Depending on you're status, they'll put you in with people that you train with. The people you live in the dorms won't be 100% you're group. They can move you to a new dorm anytime. But by the time you're ready to debut, they'll tell you everything. It's not randomly but according to your talent/ personality/popularity (If you go out and are spotted with a SM artist and is recognized as an SM trainee, you will have wide popularity and recognition so you are more likely to debut)

Practice 4pm-8/9pm
Sleep 9:30pm
