Chrome is the most popular and commonly used browser in the world. Even though Google releases regular updates, Chrome gets slow and laggy sometimes. Here are some tricks you can do to speed up your Chrome browser.

How to Speed Up Chrome Browser

1. Disable Unnecessary Extensions

The functionality of Chrome browser is extended with extensions. These are very helpful but sometimes they become useless. Usually, extensions run in the background, to parse or filter web pages you browse but they also load their own data from internet. So, to have a hassle free running, you need to disable the unwanted Extensions.

Here is how you can do that:
1. Press F6 and type “chrome://extensions” .Or, you can go manually to Options > More tools > Extensions.
2.Uncheck the Enabled to extensions you like to disable, or click the Trash icon if you want to delete the extension.

2. Disable Unwanted Plugins

Plugins are very similar to extensions. Plugins also provide extended functionalities to the browser. By default, Chrome comes with plugins provided by Google (like Native Client, Chrome PDF Viewer, etc.), and other plugins from software installed in your PC. Just like extensions, Plugins can slow down Chrome and clog memory and network resources.

To disable plugins :
1.Go to “chrome://plugins” by typing the same in Chrome search bar.
2.Select Disable to the plugin you don’t need anymore.

Make Changes to Flags

It is important to understand that, Flags are all experimental features that vary with every stable releases which means, they may not end up in next update. With that in mind, it is highly likely that they will all disappear at some point.

Since these are experimental, altering them could result in unexpected consequences in your browser’s general usability. Follow the steps carefully and Proceed with caution.

To access the Flags, just type chrome://flags in the Chrome omnibox.

The list of flags are not ordered so, type Ctrl +F and search for the Flag needed.

1. Increase the “Raster Threads”

Raster graphics actually use pixels to form an image other than vector graphics, which use curves and lines. Virtually almost all websites use raster images. Computer reads those images using raster threads are how a those images.
Find Number of Raster Threads option and choose 4 from the drop-down list.

2. Prevent Tabs From Reloading

If you have a poor Internet connection that drops out regularly, it is annoying when pages which failed to load suddenly refresh at the same time, thus using up precious bandwidth.

In order to prevent this, search for Only Auto-Reload Visible Tabs in Flags and select Enabled. This action will force Chrome to only reload the tab that you’re currently working on.

3. Close Tabs Faster

The tabs and windows on Chrome can be closed faster by running Chrome’s JavaScript handler independently from the graphical user interface. Although the “kill” process will still be continuing behind the scenes, the tab/window itself will be removed from your screen.

Just find the setting for Fast Tab/Window Close and click on link that says Enable.
