The liquid amine CO2-rich solvent passesfrom the absorber column to a stripping tower where themixture is heated with steam to liberate the CO2. Theregeneration of the chemical solvent is carried out at elevatedtemperatures (100–1408C) and pressures not much higherthan atmospheric pressure. The high heat of formationassociated with carbamate production leads to a considerableenergy penalty for regeneration of the solvent. Followingregeneration, the amine solution is cycled back to theabsorption tower for additional CO2 absorption.
