Latency is defined as the total time (in seconds) it takes to complete a
search request by voice. More precisely, we define latency as the time
from when the user finishes speaking until the search results appear
on the screen. Many factors contribute to latency as perceived by the
user: (a) the time it takes the system to detect end-of-speech, (b) the
total time to recognize the spoken query, (c) the time to perform the
web query, (d) the time to return the web search results back to the
client over the network, and (e) the time it takes to render the search
results in the browser of the users phone. Each of these factors are
studied and optimized to provide a streamlined user experience.

Độ trễ được định nghĩa là tổng thời gian (tính bằng giây) cần để hoàn thành một
yêu cầu tìm kiếm bằng giọng nói. Chính xác hơn, chúng ta định nghĩa độ trễ như thời gian
từ khi người dùng kết thúc nói chuyện cho đến khi kết quả tìm kiếm xuất hiện
trên màn hình. Có nhiều yếu tố góp phần vào độ trễ như cảm nhận của
người sử dụng: (a) thời gian cần hệ thống để phát hiện cuối cùng của bài phát biểu, (b) các
tổng thời gian để nhận ra các truy vấn nói, (c) thời gian để thực hiện các
truy vấn web , (d) thời gian để trả lại kết quả tìm kiếm web lại cho
khách hàng qua mạng, và (e) thời gian cần để làm cho việc tìm kiếm
kết quả trong trình duyệt của điện thoại người dùng. Mỗi yếu tố được
nghiên cứu và tối ưu hóa để cung cấp một trải nghiệm người dùng sắp xếp hợp lý.
