Fig. 3. Acid production and consumption from mannitoL glycerol
and ethanol by the new bacterium. Vials of semisolid LGI
medium (5 ml vial 1 ), without sugar, with initial pH 5.5 and 1%
mannitol, glycerol or ethanol were inoculated with 0.I ml of log
phase cultures. Different vials were used for each time interval
and the values are means of 4 strains, one vial each.
