Adidas group is a major phayer in sports equipment and apparel, having acquired the footwear company Reebook and golf equipment firm, TaylorMade. Leveraging these brands and product, Adidas has designed a new, hight-performence golf shoe. PGA tour player Robert ALLenby wanted a shoe to be " closer to the ground" to provide better stability. Addidas conducted biomechanical tests that confirmed that being closer to the ground promoted stability, balance, power transfer, and better performance. To do this, they had to develop a new technology called THIN tech, which eliminated the use of standard cleats and receptacles in the soles of goft shoes along with the traditionnal foam padding, bringing player 25% closer to the ground. However, the pressure from the cleats in some areas caused some discomfort , which was resolved by an engineering solution to better distribute the cleat pressure evenly.
