Land pollution is the deterioration (destruction) of the earth’s land surfaces, often directly or indirectly as a result of man’s activities and their misuse of land resources.

+ Due to land pollution, the Earth loses approximately 25 billion tons of valuable topsoil each year.
+ Up to 80 percent of land pollution is caused by energy production, food production and transportation.
+ In 2009, more than 20,000 beaches were closed as a result of land pollution.
+ On average, Americans throw out 200,000 tons of edible food each day.
+ Each year, Americans add 1.8 billion disposable diapers, 30 billion foam cups and 220 million tires to landfills.
3. POLLUTANTS
A.Urban and industrial waste is not disposed properly
- Every single day, tons and tons of domestic waste is dumped. If all these wastes are not disposed properly, the damage they can do to the environment and humankind can be devastating.
- Besides domestic waste, pesticides and herbicides used by farmers also pollute the land when they are washed into the soil.Pesticides which are persistent in nature are chlorinated hydrocarbon insecticides e.g., DDT, HCH, endrin, lindane, heptachlor, endosulfan etc.
- Industrial wastes are the effluents discharged especially from chemical industries
B.Mineral mining improperly
- Mining also affects ground and surface waters, the aquatic life, vegetation, soils, animals, and the human health. Mining gas and petroleum also pollutes the land destroys the topsoil and contaminates the area with toxic metals and chemicals.
- Using land unreasonable
- Increasing urbanization leads to the exploitation and destruction of forests. Forests were cut down for have more land allocated to agriculture.
+ Much land pollution is caused by agricultural activities, like grazing, pesticide spraying, fertilizing, irrigation, confined animal facilities and plowing.

4. EFFECTS
Contaminated lands and environments can:
- Cause problems in the human respiratory system.
- Cause problems on the skin.
- Cause various kinds of cancers.
The toxic materials that pollute the soil can get into the human body directly by:
- Coming into contact with the skin.
- Being washed into water sources like reservoirs and rivers.
- Eating fruits and vegetables that have been grown in polluted soil.
- Breathing in polluted dust or particles.
5. SOLUTIONS
Here are some solutions to help us overcome land pollution and prevent its impairments:
First of all, we need to follow and effectuate the 3R-rule (REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE):
 Reuse any items you can, such as clothing, wrapping paper, old newpaper, shopping bag, bottles and etc.
 Recycle the types of trash which are physically useful as cans, nylon bags, used paper, scrap, plastic objects, used polystyrene, etcor even biodegradable waste(food and garden waste).In addition, microprossessors and others technologicalassessories can be recycled, too.
 Reduce the colossal amount of litter that people clutter up everyday.
To sum up , all of deals of the 3R rules that eases and staves off landfills which is caused easily and facilely

Furthermore, we should manipulate compost instead of chemical fertilizers in agriculture. Eventually, we have to block off the leaking of oil pouring out the ground and deal with the chemicals liquid by the right technique.
