As being aware of the importance of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace, Hue Brewery management has carried out some practical applications to ensure the effectiveness of the policies.• Safety audit is “Periodic workplace safety audits prevent injuries and accidents” (Anon., 2010). Safety audit is applied to assess the implementation of the health and safety management system within the company. Safety audit is divided into two ways: internal audit (Hue Brewery itself for maybe twice a year) and external audit (EX: Health and Safety committee of the UK government annually). The internal audit needs less time and money usage whereas the external audit can provide a comprehensive view of the situation of health and safety of Hue Brewery. Then, the reports of auditing processes will be used to improve the health and safety system. Moreover, inspections are made using observations, checklists and discussion to identify possible hazards. Finally, the results of inspections and recommendations should be documented and provide widely to the employees.• Incident/ accident investigation (report). All managers of each department need to make reports of happened incidents as well as accidents. Furthermore, the company should create a procedure of reporting, investigating in hazards and also the circumstances that caused the incidents/accidents. Hue Brewery has to investigate carefully and correctly to prevent the routine of risks. Its will helps every department avoid risks that occurred before as well as take more carefulness about the hazards.• Consultation and training should be provided for all staffs. Thus, it will help them to identify and focus on hazards with more ease. Then, the hazards in workplace can decrease as staffs can protect themselves once they have good knowledge and awareness.• Other consultative mechanisms such as work meetings; quality circles; feedback sessions; and total quality management…provide a variety environment in which the employees can raise their Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) issues and concerns. • Record and documentation: OHS requires that all recorded documentations must be kept. The legislation forces that all the employers to ensure the health and safety of all employees. To do this, the management has to demonstrate reasonably and practice the level of control. In this action, Records and documentation may be used in supporting.o Hazard identification Checklist: The checklist is used widely as the inspection for health and safety at workplace. Checklists can be used to measure the performances against a predetermined standard.o Safety Inspection Documentation: gives information and knowledge to assist in OHS decision-making. Also, it can analyze opportunities for the increase of production; improvement of maintenance techniques, waste reduction and increase of efficiency. Last but not least, the documentation identifies how to create a safer working environment.o Safety audit: the company inspects the workplace thoroughly. Hue Brewery will make a comparison between the standards and the reality. Data of injuries incident reports, insurance claims, accident reports, first aid records and other documents that can provide an indication of health and safety system performance are used to design the safety audit. The administrative structure will draw attention to the support mechanisms, which provide the foundation for hazard management and accident prevention.o Hazardous Substances Documentation: Hue Brewery has to have hazardous substances register in order to list all of the hazardous substances with the amount of usage, and location of storage. The information must be updated regularly to make sure that they are correct.o Safety training Record Documentation: the participants of training program need to be recorded. It classify the new or untrained employees. Hence, Hue Brewery can provide training course to improve and develop their knowledge of health and safety. In addition, this documentation is also used as evidence that Hue Brewery has fulfill the obligation of providing information, instruction and training to employees if there are any unexpected problems occur.o Safety Meeting minutes: official record of proceedings of the meetings. As it is very important so it has to be maintained carefully. Decisions, actions and key points are expressed in minutes, which can be used as a reference for further plans and actions.
