Executive Summary
This report presents the backgrounds and results of a thematic assessment of capacity
constraints that Suriname is faced with in the context of the implementation of the United
Nations (UN) Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The assessment has been
undertaken by biodiversity expert Bart De Dijn (BDD) of the consultancy firm Environmental
Services & Support (ESS). The work has been commissioned by the Suriname Ministry of
Labour, Technological Development and Environment (ATM).
