EASTERN GAS BUDGET SCHEME
If you wish, you can pay your gas account inconvenient equal monthly payment spread over the year, provided the total annual charges amount to not less than �60.
This scheme, called the Monthly Budget Scheme, has been designed to meet the wishes of those customers of Eastern Gas who prefer to budget household expenses evenly over the year. His simply an alternative method of payment and is entirely a matter of choice.
Instead of paying four gas accounts each year, as at present, usually with the two winter quarter accounts higher than the two summer quarter accounts, you pay a set amount on the same day each calendar month.
Your gas accounts for the first three quarters of the annual period will continue to be sent to you each quarter for your information.
At the end of each annual period what you have actually used will be worked out and compared with what you have actually paid. If you have underpaid by an amount greater than your normal monthly payment, you will be required to pay the amount you owe. If you have overpaid by an amount exceeding your normal monthly payment will be carried forward to the next annual period, although Eastern Gas may require you to alter your monthly payment. You can see in the example below how the scheme works.
