Chemical conduction occurs when thereis transmission between neurons. Itworks through the so-calledneurotransmitters, or chemical messengers, ofnerve impulses. The neurotransmitters, whichare stored in vesicles (small receptacles in thenerve endings), are released when an electricalsignal reaches the nerve ending (electricalconduction). The transmitters travel from thesynaptic node of the neuron to the cellularmembrane of another cell, which in turncontains receptors that receive thereleased chemicals. These electricallycharged particles (ions) enter thenew nerve cell and initiate anew impulse that will besent to another neuron.
