I am from Vietnam, and in Vietnam all students that got to Primary and Secondary Schools have to wear a uniform. The most common type of uniform consists of a white shirt with school logo on left sleeve and navy trousers, with a red scarf for students from grade 3 to grade 9, and there is no difference between boy and girl's uniforms. However, many schools (private or famous public schools) have their own designed uniforms. The white which is ao dai is also a tradition uniform for high school girls in Vietnam. It makes us feel part of the school community, and whilst the lack of choice is usually something which is brought up as an argument against it, you are only wearing it for school hours every day, and it wouldn't be as if you were the only one wearing it; everyone would be. Anyway, they look a lot more smart than casual clothes, and some people even suggest that looking smarter helps induce a better learning environment. And believe me; I have many more than just “ten reasons” to support what I claim but I want to keep this short and interesting.
9- Uniforms Are Cost Effective
most of us used to think a lot of what I am going to wear tomorrow for school. The pink dress with those shoes? Uhmm Nah! I wore that last week. Uhmm, how about this one, ahh, No Pamela has the same dress and wears it so often…! I need to buy a new one...
Uniform policies at school also helps families to concentrate where it matters the most that is on the quality education of their child.
Most parents and teachers can do and have tried almost everything to improve on the punctuality of students. If a simple dress code policy can solve this pressing issue, then why can’t we just give it a try?
1. Increased security in the school. Staff can quickly see who should be there and who should not.
2. Eliminates bully and judgments about what students wear and how much money they have. Students can be judged more fairly on what they say and do. Also, uniforms make students equal. There is no jealousy or envy related to clothing. They eliminate some unnecessary disparity between students by taking away a difference in dress, which often defines where a student stands on the social ladder
3. It is cheaper for parents than trying to keep up with the latest brands and fads. for example, yearly the cost of uniforms from 40- 60 dollars. Compare that to a trip to the mall. Girls can often times spend seventy dollars in one trip to the mall, many times for just one outfit.
4. School uniforms are safer. They are designed to be sunsafe, appropriate for the weather of the location the school is in. Things like leather school shoes protect feet from falling knives in home or class, falling tools in manual arts and falling chemicals in science.
5. They should be Schools uniforms help unite the students by giving them an identity. It also allows for discipline. It is exactly like in the army.
7. Uniforms help students to feel like students to create an environment, which is more conductive to learning, and allow students ready more quickly in the morning.
8. Additionally, uniforms offer convenience. There is little choice that must be made about what is within the range of the dress code and it helps students to understand how one should dress in a professional way.
Most work environments have a very limited dress code depending on a person's job description and that is essentially what a uniform is. It teaches students that self-expression is often required to be made in ways that express, who we truly are, not how much money we have or what the current fashion trend is.
