Welcome to UCB

We are looking forward to welcoming you to University College Birmingham in September.
The information below will help you prepare for enrolment and the start of your course. Listed below is course specific information, including uniform information for you to order.

Enrolment Dates

Enrolment will take place in August at our Summer Row site. Please click on the following link to view the enrolment timetable for new students:

Enrolment for returning students (for those studying Beauty Therapy, Hairdressing, Theatrical Special Effects, Hair and Media Make-up, Health & Social Care and Childcare and Education)
The enrolment timetable for returning students will be available soon.
What You Need to Bring to Enrolment (new students only)

You will need to bring the following items with you when you enrol:
Some form of i.d which shows your date of birth, such as a birth certificate, passport or driving licence.

GCSE and/or other qualification results, either the certificates or result slips. Even if your course does not have a GCSE entry requirement we still need to record your results.
If you are claiming asylum, have refugee status or have entered the UK recently please bring a copies of your current passport, visas and any previous passport you used when you first entered the UK, together with any residency or other documents that relate to your stay in the UK.
If you are aged 19 or over you may be required to pay tuition fees. Please refer to the Tuition fee information in this pack for more details. You can also contact our Finance Department on 0121 232 4180 for advice. If you do have to pay fees you will need to pay the first instalment when you enrol.

Please make sure you bring these items with you, without them we might not be able to enrol you!

What Happens During Enrolment?

When you’ve completed your enrolment you’ll get your i.d card. Make sure you keep this safe and don’t lose it – you will need to use your i.d card every time you come in to college. If you do lose your card you may be charged a fee to replace it.
From September 2014 there is a requirement for all students who do not have GCSE grade C or higher (dated within the last 5 years) in maths and/or English, to continue study in these subjects whilst at UCB. If you haven’t already taken the Initial Assessment of your maths and English skills you can do this at enrolment. It should take approximately one hour to complete. The Initial Assessment will help us identify the level of support you need. If you have any queries or concerns you can contact Jody Seaton on 0121 604 1000 ext. 2403.

In addition the Learner Support Fund may be able to assist home students financially with the additional costs of studying, such as equipment, childcare and travel. Please contact our Student Budget Counsellor for eligibility criteria and an application form on 0121 604 1000 ext. 2605.

Induction Details

At induction you’ll join your group and receive your timetable before teaching starts. As well as getting your course information and timetable it’s also a great time to make new friends, find your way around and just get used to college life.
