From Russia by JarvisGlasses is another gem at Monsieur Poulet, a design that manages a lot with just two ink colors. Capturing all the color and pattern of Russia’s unique architecture is definitely a big challenge with such a limited palette, but with smart use of stripes and other hand-drawn textures the design does it ably. And of course, the original character is so much fun! His solid, light color makes him the focus immediately, and he’s packed with personality from his youthful, dweeby hat to his fluffy body and bashful smile. The digital camera immediately marks him as a friendly tourist, so you know that while he may be the size of Godzilla, his intentions are much more positive. Part of me wishes there was more verticality to the print so it’d fill the space better, but it’s definitely very wearable and appealing as-is
