In order to address the untenable situation of garment workers and specifically the situation of women, the Garment Industries Transparency Initiative (GITI) was initiated in 2013 by Prof. Dr. Peter Eigen, founder of Transparency International and co-founder of the HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Governance Platform gGmbH.

Given the complete inadequacy of implementation of existing labour standards at the national level, limited legal enforcement at the international level as well as limits of voluntary business sector codes of conducts and their related auditing mechanisms, the need for workers’ empowerment and for better buyer-supplier relationships has not been adequately addressed to date.

Để giải quyết tình hình không đứng vững của công nhân may mặc và đặc biệt là tình hình của phụ nữ, Sáng kiến minh bạch Garment Industries (GITI) được khởi xướng vào năm 2013 bởi Giáo sư Tiến sĩ Peter Eigen, người sáng lập Tổ chức Minh bạch Quốc tế và đồng sáng lập của HUMBOLDT-VIADRINA Quản Platform GGMBH.
