RFT East German state run sales organisation, normally the products of Neumann East Germany (now Microtech Gefell), Ziphona and others were sold with the RFT label rather than using the individual companies trademarks although in the 80's it became more common to see the individual trademarks on the product as well as the RFT brand. Also this method of centralised distribution was only used for consumer products, professional products were distributed and branded by the individual companies. RFT Acoustics model K13 Profil, 8" woofer with rubber surrounds, 1" dome tweeter, dome is clear making it look like a human eyeball, very solid construction, heavy, speaker grill has metal mesh screen instead of cloth, good sound quality, any info is appreciated, thank you Last edited: Mar 14, 2009 Feb 6, 2008 . sealy sealyAddicted Member I've heard some RFT 3 ways awhile back. Fairly laid back sound, no particularly annoying traits. Nice and clear. To me, they looked well made. A guy has been trying to sell some for $180 for quite a spell on Craigslist, Vancouver. So far, no takers, probably because of the relative obscurity of the brand. Is the tweeter dome mylar? The pair I saw had textile domes. Strange to see the mid/woofer connections on the outside of the box. Feb 6, 2008 . Excumbrian ExcumbrianActive Member sealy said: ↑ I've heard some RFT 3 ways awhile back. There's a pic but I know sweet FA about the speakers.http://vancouver.craigslist.ca/ele/565696315.html Last edited: Feb 7, 2008 Feb 7, 2008 . MikeO MikeOActive Member I got a pair of those speakers with my first stereo system sometime in the mid 1980s. They came with a Sharp receiver and tape deck and I think I paid about $200 for the whole system from Kmart. My father in law is using the speakers now. Sound wise, I didn't think much of them but they do have a good build quality and are still running well after 20 years. Feb 7, 2008 . Dormie DormieMember the dome tweeters are clear, with a piece of sponge inside, looks like a human eye ball Last edited: Mar 14, 2009 Feb 10, 2008 . oldgringo oldgringoEhh, What's up Doc?Subscriber Not sure why I missed this one earlier [?]. A guy in T.O. has been advertising this model for a while [CL link for photo and specs only - read on for context]:http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/ele/623881803.html They look identical to a now beat-up pair that I bought new in around '88, from K-Mart for $120.00. The manager said it was a one or two-off shipment from the (previous) GDR. The model name of mine is Carrera - 120 wpc - 3-way/ 'eye-ball' tweeter. They always seemed to be a hardy, loud when needed, 'mid-fi' at best, pair of bookshelves. Including using them in the trunk of my car for a few months!
That is, until I hooked them up to an [ :D ] H/K 930, last December  .
My 930 made them sing like angels, Dormie :music:  - have you tried this combo yet? It took an hour of moderate playing to get them to 'put-out'; but the sound quality means that I will now not give them up; and wished that I'd been more careful with their exteriors, when moving half-a-dozen-times :D . I hope that this info is not too late for whatever your need happened to be :)
