Oral literature has it that, on becoming so wealthy at the site
where they resided, having migrated from Asante, the original
settlers are said to have expressed their satisfaction and
excitement as to how rich the place was and what riches it
offered them. According to our interviewees, those original settlers
are believed to have said constantly in Akan that, ‘‘y eabenyay en ho
tam’’, literally meaning ‘‘we have become very rich over here’’. As
can be seen, tamso – to wit, upon a place of riches – means ‘‘a place
of wealth’’
